THE DEFENSE

Q: Hi Christie! Thank you for participating in Defend Your Ride Denver. The Compass is a great Jeep for off roading and getting up into the mountains. Do you take many trips in it?

A: Some travel! New Mexico, Arizona, Utah, driving back to Michigan a couple times, Evergreen, up to the Roaring Fork Valley, Steamboat, down to Taos. We usually go down to Durango in December. Go ride the Polar Express. I have a boy. He’s been going since he’s a year old so.

Q: Sounds like you have an active family. Does your family ski?

A: We will ski. I snowshoe, mountain bike. I’m trying to get to Evergreen Lake to go ice skating. We haven’t done that yet.

Q: Tell us about your vehicle. What kind of miles per gallon are you getting?

A: It’s a Jeep that gets better gas mileage than a normal sized Jeep. They tell me it’s supposed to get 30, but I’m guessing 25 or 26. If I drove 55–at the speed limit the whole time–I’m sure. I try to.

Q: Do you have any rules for passengers riding in your Jeep while you drive?

A: If you’re in the passenger seat, you can’t touch the dial. Music? I like all kinds. I go from country to, I guess, heavy rock. I’m a Kid Rock fan.

Q: Does your six year old son like Kid Rock!?

A: He only gets to listen to the first four songs on the CD. Then after that, it comes out.

Q: How did you get your Jeep Compass? Where did you buy it?

A: I got it from Go Automotive down south on Arapahoe. It’s car shopping. It’s never a good experience, car shopping. I do pretty well for a female buying a car. I can haggle it down and do fairly well.

Q: So you didn’t pay MSRP?

A: <laughs> No, no, no, no, never. I didn’t pay what they were asking because I know about my cars. When you come from Detroit, you have to know about your cars.

Q: Ah, and if your Jeep had a human emotion, what would it be?

A: Happy!

Q: Thank you for your time today. Finally, what do you think your next car might be?

A: There’s two. I want a Jeep Wrangler four-door and, you know, there’s always that dream to have that Porsche. Drive down to the Baja peninsula, just travel and experience the culture. If I could get it to Italy, I’d drive it to Italy, but that would be too expensive.
