Best Sporting Goods Stores In Denver

By Janna Graber

Coloradoans love the outdoors. We hike, fish, bike, run, canoe and climb - often many times in the same week. We demand power sports stores that can deliver the goods we need, whether it's a tent for our next camping trip or skis for the upcoming season. Here - tried and tested - is our list of the best sporting goods stores in Denver.

This is not your grandfather's sporting goods store. This huge behemoth of a box store is a destination in its own right. There's an entire wing just for fly-fishing gear, another for camping, and the list goes on and on. You could wander in here for hours, all the while finding top name brands that you're sure to need - or at least want. Bass Pro Shops offers hunters and anglers equipment they'll drool over, as well as free workshops on fly fishing, predator calling and how to use a fish finder, just to name a few. Bass Pro Shops is part museum and art gallery and the pieces make for interesting sidelines, as does the giant fish tank. Watch the fish feeding at 3 p.m. on Saturday, and keep an eye out for the 82-pound catfish! After shopping, head next door for dinner at the Islamorada Fish Company restaurant. Hours: Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Sunday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
