Top Seafood In Denver

Face it – we're in the middle of nowhere as far as seafood goes – so you're not likely to find many deals on fish, fresh or otherwise. Here are a few to work with.

Higher end, very worth it restaurant right downtown. Easy access to Denver Center, Symphony, Ballet and Opera. Great dining experience. Reputation for very fresh fish, every day.

I love the atmosphere at the downtown location and find it a particularly good spot for lunch. Haven't been to the southeast location. The question with fish is always quality of the piece and portion size. I've never had any problem with either at McCormick's. Serving staff is also very versed in the day's menu. Use their expertise to expand your dining experience.

700 Water Street
Denver, Colo. 80211

Chain seafood restaurant. Bought up the Denver Aquarium about 7 years ago. So, you can visit the aquarium and then dine on fish. Quality is not bad, yet, not to die for. It's just sort of there if you're craving seafood and one of their doors gets in your way. Price can add up very quickly. Hence the: $$/$$$

I like Jax, simply because of its laid back atmosphere, especially around the oyster bar. Plan accordingly. It's often tough to find a table. Good selection of wine, beer, spirits.

Hoo hah! High end, special occasion place. Does a great job with fish, but also with everything else. Wide ranging menu, great sotto voce atmosphere. Great for business meetings, special occasions with that special someone – a special someone you don't mind dropping a goodly amount of money on.

Fresh Fish Co.

A Denver tradition, especially around Mother's Day, but, I guess, every other day as well. Solid quality, nice, if somewhat cramped atmosphere. Always busy. Solid, basic, food, service and style. Which is, I suspect, why it has lasted so long in the Denver area. You can always count on it.

Fun place. The house of everything fried.

Solid, unexciting, chain restaurant that, somehow, always delivers. The biscuits are always a hit, and no one ever walks away from the table hungry. Be careful, however. Without noticing it, this can wind up costing more than you expected. I've had sticker shock any number of times. Much of the fare is swimming in butter – which may not be good for you, but tastes great.

Once again, a solid seafood restaurant that can easily get away from you price-wise by the end of the evening. Wide selection of fish, cooking styles and prices. Take your time wandering the menu. There's a lot here to see and enjoy and fit into your budget.

Another chain. Another sense of sticker shock at the end. But – for some reason, I've always walked away from Joe's with that attitude of "Eh – okay." But – on the plus side – though pricey -- their buckets and steam pots are outrageous in terms of what you get.
