Top Dance Companies In Denver

February 1, 2011 12:52 PM

Denver has got to be one of the best dance cities outside of New York. There are companies here, as well as ensembles and troupes, small groups and lots of dance classes. Any and all styles are available as well. These are some of the best.

Cleo Parker Robinson Dance

119 Park Avenue West
Denver, CO 80205-3209
(303) 295-1759

Cleo Parker Robinson is a Denver treasure. Her school, theatre and dance ensemble have been going strong in Denver for decades and never fail to impress me with their strength and artistry. During the holidays, don’t miss “Granny Dances to a Holiday Drum.”

Colorado Ballet

1278 Lincoln St
Denver, CO 80203
(303) 837-8888

The Colorado Ballet is the ballet company that, over the years, has introduced me (and then, reintroduced me) to the glories of the ballet. Not afraid to perform works that actually appeal to the audience as well as the artists, they have been able to survive in an increasingly tough arts market.

Ballet Nouveau

3001 Industrial Ln # 12
Broomfield, CO 80020-7153
(303) 466-5685

Ballet Nouveau is a company that sometimes gets forgotten in the hurley-burley of arts competition in the marketplace, but it’s also a company that never fails to put on a dramatic performance with heart and emotion deep inside every movement on stage.

Lemon Spongecake

The Dairy Center for the Arts
2590 Walnut St.
Boulder, CO, 80302

A contemporary dance company with performances in both Boulder (Dairy Center) and Denver (Newman Center). Always dramatic. Always different. Always intensely creative.

Frequent Flyers

3022 Sterling Cir
Boulder, CO 80301
(303) 245-8272

Ballet? Yes. Trapeze? Yes. Fun? Oh, yes. Worth Seeing? Most definitely.
