There is nothing in the world like a good bakery. Finding ANYPLACE that has good baked goods is a treat and a discovery worth returning to time and time again. Here are a few I’ve enjoyed.

Boulder Baked

1911 Broadway Street
Boulder, CO 80302
(303) 444-4999

I know it’s up the road, but if you’re ever in the People’s Republic, this is a place to stop. Hours are kind of wacky, but the product is excellent, no matter what you choose to enjoy. Marvelous place. Will deliver to the university area — which helps me realize where the idea of the Freshman 15 developed.

Le Bakery Sensual

Denver, CO 80203

A good bakery with an eye on the unique. At least in terms of shapes. Use the name to get an idea of what kind of shapes. Ahhh, there you go.

Great Harvest Bread Company

Various Denver Locations

The main focus here is on bread, though there are some other things available. I can’t walk in here without walking out with something — always meant for Sunday morning — which, somehow, never makes it that far.

Wide ranging selection (no donuts) and a small seating area. What is here is wonderful. The croissants will make you curl up and die – but happily. Oh, so happily.

Santa Fe Cookie Company

Great cookies in a great atmosphere and very, very, reasonable in pricing. As a cookie afficianado, I can recommend that peanut butter, oatmeal raisin and chocolate chip. On second thought, I can recommend any and all of what they make.

With all due respect, any top bakeries in Denver listing that does not include The Denver Bread Company – which not only has the best bread but also the best cookies – is sadly incomplete.
