Residents of parts of the Eastern Plains are cleaning up after some severe weather late Monday that included six-inch deep hail and a tornado.
Everything had to come together just perfectly to create the killer tornado in Moore, Okla.: wind speed, moisture in the air, temperature and timing. And when they did, the awesome energy released over that city dwarfed the power of the atomic bomb that leveled Hiroshima.
Wednesday marks five years since a tornado ripped through the town of Windsor in Northern Colorado.
Weather experts say the destruction in Moore from Monday’s massive tornado is amazing, but what surprises them is that the town has been hit by three large tornadoes in the last 15 years.
The storm that brought snow to the Front Range on Tuesday also spawned severe weather as it moved through the Eastern Plains.

The National Weather Service office in Boulder says six tornadoes touched down in the Denver area on Wednesday night during severe weather.
The Mile High Chapter of the Red Cross sent two people to Joplin, Mo. in the aftermath of a destructive tornado. They returned to Denver on Thursday.
