Wildfire-Ravaged Colorado Springs Gets Tourism Grant

A Colorado community that saw a massive wildfire in the middle of peak tourism season will receive a federal grant to try to lure visitors back to the foot of Pikes Peak.

The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb has been rescheduled for Aug. 12 after it was postponed because of extreme weather and safety concerns due to the Waldo Canyon Fire.

More than 3,000 personnel were battling least a half-dozen wildfires in Colorado on Monday while thousands of people who were evacuated awaited word on when they could return.

Early Blizzard Hits Pikes Peak
