Pikes Peak International Hill Climb Rescheduled

The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb has been rescheduled for Aug. 12 after it was postponed because of extreme weather and safety concerns due to the Waldo Canyon Fire.

Army officials say the soldiers airlifted off Colorado’s Pikes Peak over the weekend were from Fort Campbell, Ky.

Rescuers Help 9 Soldiers Off Of Pikes Peak

A military helicopter rescued nine stranded soldiers who were on a training mission on Pikes Peak, including one who had suffered a broken leg.

"One of my brother's high school teachers once told him that Pike's Peak couldn't be seen from Denver. Ha! The wind and atmospheric conditions gave us this clear and almost magnified view," he wrote.

Early Blizzard Hits Pikes Peak

An early blizzard Tuesday morning at the top of Pikes Peak briefly closed a highway to the summit and left some tourists stranded at the top until the road was plowed.
