Gov. John Hickenlooper has named a new recovery chief to continue Colorado’s rebuilding efforts after September’s historic floods.
The official in charge of recovery efforts in the aftermath of last week’s devastating Colorado floods says his priorities are rebuilding the state equal or better than it was before and operating “with a very heavy sense of urgency.”
Coloradans who ventured back into the flood-ravaged town of Lyons found scenes of stomach-churning destruction, with dozens of homes destroyed, family keepsakes missing, food spoiling and mud everywhere.
Gov. John Hickenlooper named a recovery chief on Thursday to lead the state’s reconstruction after destructive flooding and said transportation officials will expedite fixes to highways and bridges.
