The former chief deputy for the Douglas County Coroner’s Office has notified the coroner and the county he may file a lawsuit after he claims he was unfairly fired.
A CBS4 investigation has learned that thousands of dollars worth of narcotics and pain pills are missing from what was thought to be a secure storeroom at the Douglas County Coroner’s Office and are presumed to have been stolen.
Investigators in Douglas County are now examining a woman’s body that was buried nearly 20 years ago, but was pulled from the ground on Friday.
For nearly 20 years she has been known as “Jane Doe;” a teenager found dead at a Douglas County campground. With no identification found at the scene, no certain cause of death and no leads, she was buried in Castle Rock with her identity unknown.
The Colorado Bureau of Investigation and the Colorado Attorney General are looking into the handling of three handguns that went from the Douglas County Coroner’s Office to the home of Carter Lord.
