Furloughs, Job Cuts To Balance Denver Budget

Denver Mayor Michael Hancock announced Tuesday that the city will cut nearly a hundred vacant jobs, and employees will take furlough days to balance a $100 million shortfall in the 2012 budget.

Facing a bleak financial picture, Denver budget analysts have told the Denver Police Department it will need to slash the equivalent of 100 full time employees from its 2012 budget and come up with total savings of nearly $24 million dollars for 2012.
