Driver In Stolen FedEx Truck Leads Deputies On Chase

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) -- A driver in a stolen FedEx truck led deputies on a chase in Douglas County Friday morning.

The FedEx truck was stolen from outside The Shootist Pistol Range at 2980 S. Galapago St. in Englewood a little before 11 a.m., according to the Englewood Police Department.

The delivery driver walked out of The Shootist and saw a man sitting in the driver's seat of the FedEx vehicle, which had the keys inside, police stated. After a brief exchange of words, the suspect drove away in the FedEx vehicle.

The FedEx truck was involved in one crash in Lone Tree and at least one crash in Douglas County before the driver went off the side of Interstate 25 in the Castle Pines area. The vehicle went down a grassy hill and ended up next to some trees.

The suspect got out and ran but later surrendered, officials said.

He was taken into custody by Douglas County Sheriff's Office personnel.  The suspect was then transported to an area hospital for treatment.

At 2 p.m. officials warned of heavy traffic on northbound I-25 through Castle Rock as they worked to pull the truck out of the ditch.
