Tortilla Factory Fire Sends Up Thick, Black Smoke Over Downtown Denver

DENVER (CBS4)- Thick, black smoke rose over downtown Denver on Thursday evening after what appeared to be a boiler explosion started the Tortillas Mexico factory on fire.

The smoke was coming from a two-alarm fire in the area 11th and Santa Fe.

The man who owns the factory ran into the burning building to make sure all his employees got out safely. He suffered some minor injuries and was rushed to Denver Health.

A structural engineer will be evaluating the building to determine the damage caused by the fire and whether the building can be repaired.

The company has other warehouses where they can continue tortilla making operations.
