WHEAT RIDGE (CBS4) – A 12-year-old boy was hit and killed Friday while trying to cross Wadsworth Boulevard in Wheat Ridge.

Wheat Ridge police say the young boy was trying to cross the busy street in stop-and-go traffic.

Cars northbound and southbound on Wadsworth had a green light, but were stopped. The boy crossed against the light, and was hit when a car started to move.

The boy did not survive.

The driver of the car stayed on scene, and there was no indication of impairment, per police.
