DENVER (CBS4) – Millions of people are preparing for the solar eclipse on August 21.

Viewing even the smallest sliver of a crescent sun behind the moon could cause irreversible vision damage, including blindness.

Proper eye protection is a must.

The American Astronomical Society has a list of certified eclipse glasses and handheld solar viewers on its website.

The glasses and viewers block the sun’s rays.
