Cleanup In Pueblo A National Priority, EPA Says

PUEBLO, Colo. (CBS4) - The EPA says cleanup in Pueblo is a national priority.

Areas of the city were contaminated decades ago by several metal favorites, leaving behind high levels of lead and arsenic.

The Environmental Protection Agency is still deciding how big the cleanup site will be, testing 1,900 yards in the mile-wide study zone.

Officials want to start cleaning as early as next year.

The whole project is estimated to cost $44 million.
