Cheyenne Mountain Zoo Names New Calf
COLORADO SPRINGS (CBS4) - Meet Rae.
The new baby giraffe at the Colorado Springs Zoo has a name.
Zoo workers say "She's been a ray of sunshine since her arrival."
She's named after Rae Gamble, a 99-year-old world traveler with a heart for animals. Two years ago, while on an African safari, Gamble became captivated with wild giraffes. She then decided to leave an estate gift to help with conservation.
As a measure of thanks, the zoo decided to name the new calf in Rae's honor.
