Suspect Arrested In 4-Year-Old Boy's Death
BROOMFIELD, Colo. (CBS4) - A 4-year-old child was found dead inside a home in Broomfield on Thursday morning. Police took a 25-year-old male into custody in connection to the child's death that is being investigated as a homicide.
It started with two 911 calls from a home in the 4200 block of West 136th Avenue, including a hangup call.
When officers arrived, they found a young child that had received a massive amount of trauma. The 4-year-old boy was pronounced deceased by paramedics at the home.
Police took Emanuel Joseph Doll into custody. He is being booked on investigation of felony homicide. Doll was described by police as being a "family member" but officers did not provide any specific details about the relationship.
"(They put) him in a squad car, and they weren't gentle about it," commented Jim Egli, a witness who lives nearby. "So we knew something bad was going on."
"This is a very sad, tragic event and our hearts go out to the family and especially this young child. This is a very difficult situation for everyone," said Broomfield Police Department spokeswoman Joleen Reefe.
Neighbors were shaken by the crime that brought a swarm of police into the neighborhood.
"It's horrifying. It's sad," said Zach Stroud, in an interview with CBS4's Melissa Garcia.
"I feel horrible for the mom of that little boy," said another neighbor. "Coming from me, having two kids; I don't know what I would do having that call."
Neighbors describe the house residents as a three-generation family who mostly kept to themselves.
