Electrical Wiring Eyed As Cause Of Condo Fire

By Matt Kroschel

KEYSTONE, Colo. (CBS4) - Battling bone-chilling cold, dozens of firefighters responded Saturday night to the Mill Creek condominiums.

Four units have damage from a fire that crews now believe started in some electrical wiring going to a floodlight.

Firefighters from three separate departments in the area responded, and the icy cold made fighting the flames challenging.

"It was a challenge but we prepare and adapt for these conditions," Lake Dillon Fire and Rescue spokesman Steve Lipsher told CBS4 on Sunday.

Fire investigators tell CBS4 it was a single sprinkler head that likely kept the fire isolated, thus sparing other units and the rest of the building from major damage.

Keystone resort staff were able to find other housing for all of the people impacted by the fire.

The fire is estimated to have caused approximately $500,000 in damage. No one was hurt in the blaze.
