Katy Anthes Appointed As Colorado's Education Commissioner

DENVER (AP) — Colorado's interim education commissioner, Katy Anthes, has been appointed to serve in the role on a permanent basis.

The state Board of Education made the appointment Wednesday.

Anthes had been serving in the interim post since May, when former education commissioner Richard Crandall resigned after four months on the job.

Anthes previously worked as the Department of Education's chief of staff.

Board Chairman Steve Durham has praised Anthes for her ability to bring people together on the state's toughest issues.

The newly appointed commissioner will receive an annual salary of $255,000.
