The frigid temperatures were a challenge to fire crews.

"It was 20 degrees when we arrived on scene earlier this morning. As of right now it's like 14 degrees outside, it's brutal cold," said South Adams County Fire Department Battalion Chief Bobby Noel.

Firefighters were able to get everyone out of the home safely. A family of five, including a grandmother and an infant escaped major injuries. A couple of the family members were treated for smoke inhalation.

Firefighters say the fire started in the bathroom and may have been caused by a space heater.
