Spring-like Thursday and Friday, Before Frigid Temps by Saturday

By Ed Greene

DENVER (CBS4) - Cold air backed into Colorado on Wednesday and pushed up along the front range giving a much cooler day: Denver only struggles to 29 degrees for the high and that came at 2:30am! It never got warmer than that and in fact we spent the afternoon hours in the chilly mid 20s. snow continued in the high country with a Winter Weather Advisory for the northern and central mountains until 9am Thursday morning. Then at 6pm on Thursday a Winter Storm Watch goes into effect for almost all mountain locations until 10pm on Friday for another 10 to 16 inches of snow.

That cold air will reverse itself and pull off our eastern plains and mover east. In it's place will be a warm southwesterly flow of mild desert air that with jump our high temperature into the mid to upper 50s! Another nice day Friday with a high reaching around 50 degrees - but that high may come early in the day as another chunk of bitterly cold air will slide into Colorado dropping our high to the single digits on Saturday with possible snow overnight Friday into Saturday morning. Snow amounts around Denver look light, but the temperature will be the memorable item form this storm.

Sunshine returns Saturday afternoon and again on Sunday - with the high on Sunday in the low 20s - so a chilly Bronco game.
