Friday Denver Warmed 51 Degrees From the Morning low of Just 3 Degrees

By Ed Greene

DENVER (CBS4) - After the coldest stretch of weather in almost three years in Denver, temperatures have climbed above freezing for the first time in four days. The low on Friday morning was just 3 degrees...then we soared 51 degrees to our high of 54..recorded at both the airport and downtown locations. Tomorrow, more downslope warming will push the temperature even higher - into the mid to upper 50s. The Winter Storm Warning was allowed to expire at 60m Friday...but with more snow on the way a new Winter storm Warning has been issued at 2pm Saturday, with a Winter Storm Watch for 6am Saturday...with both expiring at 6pm on Sunday dropping as much as 20" of new snow over much of the high country.

Sunday will be cooler in Denver - a more seasonal high in the mid 40s - with a few possible rain or snow showers pushing over from that mountain moisture.

Next week we'll begin another slide down to colder temperatures and more winter-like weather: partly cloudy Monday with a high in the lower 40s; mostly cloudy and colder Tuesday with a chance for scattered snow showers, high in the low 30s; mostly cloudy and colder still on Wednesday, chance for light snow with a high only in the mid 20s.
