Coldest Night In Almost 2 Years Ahead For Denver

By Ed Greene

DENVER (CBS4) - The snow and cold came and left as advertised: about 2-5 inches generally around the metro area...about twice that for the ski areas. Denver's calendar day high reached 17 degrees, but the warmest we got a in Denver during the afternoon hours was 11 degrees at the airport and just 13 downtown. Now as skies clear overnight, the little heart we have will radiate upwards and temperatures will dive. Look for a low in Denver by Thursday morning near 7 degrees below zero! A Wind Chilly Advisory is out from 11pm through 8am Thursday for the northern eastern border counties for winds chills at 15 to 25 below zero. More sunshine but still cold for Thursday with a high around 20 degrees.

Then the temperature actually will inch above the seasonal normal of 43 when we reach into the mid 40s under partly sunny skies on Friday. Saturday we'll warm to around 50 degrees with a few isolated showers possible...more snow falls in the high country. Then cooler air with a few isolated showers on Sunday as the high should only reach the upper 30s.
Look for partly cloudy skies on Monday with a high around 40.
