Kidnapping Suspect Arrested, 2 Victims Found
AURORA, Colo. (CBS4) - The kidnapping suspect that prompted an Amber Alert late Wednesday morning has been arrested and the woman and a toddler taken have been found.
Police found a woman named Brenda Sanchez and a 2-year-old child named Ivan in Boulder just after 2 p.m. Wednesday.
Police did not disclose where the kidnapping happened but officers were led to a townhome complex in Aurora where Sanchez lives with her family.
Neighbors told CBS4 they were shocked to learn what happened, "I've never seen any kind of argument or anything like that down there. That's why it's unusual to see cameras everywhere and police."
Officers located the suspect, Sergio Martinez, vehicle near Highway 36 and Baseline Road in Boulder.
Martinez, 21, took off running but officers caught up with him and then made the arrest.
"Next thing you know they're coming right through here, a suspect running with about 15 cops behind him with his gun drawn," said witness Mike Nichols.
Police say Brenda and Ivan were kidnapped at gunpoint Wednesday morning from their complex in Aurora. The Amber Alert was canceled shortly after they were found.
Officers found the white Subaru with Colorado license plate QIZ-384 just hours after the Amber Alert was issued.
Investigators are working to determine whether the vehicle was involved in a hit and run at Smoky Hill and South Buckley.
The Colorado Bureau of Investigation tweeted an update on the search.
That car is registered to Martinez. Police said was considered armed and dangerous.
There was a "no contact" order with Ivan and Brenda.
