Siemian Ruled Out For Sunday's Broncos Game, Lynch Will Start

By Michael Spencer

DENVER (CBS4) - Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak officially ruled out quarterback Trevor Siemian for Sunday's game in Jacksonville, meaning that rookie Paxton Lynch will get his second start of the season.

"It's been a good week for him," Kubiak said. "Paxton's working really hard. I'm really proud of how far he's come, how hard he's worked."

Siemian had been dealing with a foot injury suffered in the Broncos 30-27 overtime loss to Kansas City on Sunday. He had not practiced all week.

Lynch filled in for Siemian during the Broncos Week 4 win at Tampa Bay when Siemian left with a shoulder injury.

A week later he got his first career start when the Broncos lost to Atlanta 23-16 on Oct. 9. Lynch finished that game with 223 yards, 1 touchdown and 1 interception.

Siemian will travel with the team this weekend.

The Broncos are 7-4, and are currently third in the AFC West standings.

Sunday's game in Jacksonville kicks off at 11 a.m. and can be seen on CBS4. Wide receiver Bennie Fowler and Casey Kreiter have also been ruled out of the game.
