Holiday Flea Offers Sales With A Story

By Libby Smith

DENVER (CBS4) - The Sports Castle on Broadway -- the former home of Gart Sports and Sports Authority -- is getting dressed up for the holidays. For three days only, the Holiday Flea will be hosted there.

The Holiday Flea is a carefully curated collection of Colorado vendors selling everything from handcrafted cutting boards to jewelry and clothing as well as much, much more.

"Here we create an environment where you can talk to the people who are actually making the products that you're buying. You're not just giving a cutting board for the holidays, but you're giving a cutting board that you can tell the recipient of the gift who made it, what kind of wood it is, and the story behind the gift," said Blake Adams, the co-founder of Denver Flea.

This isn't your average flea market. There are 200 vendors, including craft beer and local cocktails.

"Whatever you're drinking, alcoholic, non-alcoholic, whatever you're buying, there's a story behind it that's local, and it's really fun," Adams told CBS4.

The vendors come from all four corners of Colorado and are filling up the floors of the Sports Castle.

"Incredibly excited about the quality of vendors that we have this time. As a shopper, as an attendee of Denver Flea, we've really put a lot of thought into making the Sports Castle a unique and fun place to be for the holiday season," Adams explained.
