Couple Arrested In Shooting Death Of Man
LAKEWOOD, Colo. (CBS4)- A couple in Aurora has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of a man in Lakewood.
Police in Lakewood teamed up with members of the Denver Police Department and ATF agents to arrested Toussaint Lamar Hampton and Kiantrenay Sharminey Bell for the murder of Philip Todd Peny.
The shooting happened in the area of 9th Avenue and Allison Street about 7 p.m. on Saturday.
When officers arrived, they found a vehicle in the ditch. Peny, 44, from Wheat Ridge, was the driver and had been shot several times. Officers say he died before the car came to a stop.
Hampton, 23, and Bell, 24, were arrested and jailed on suspicion of first-degree murder, aggravated robbery, possession of controlled substances and other charges.
Investigators say none of the three involved lived in the area and believe the encounter was drug-related.
