Neighbors woke to cop cars, flashing lights and crime tape. Valerie Wojtech lives across the street and says officers also knocked on her door as the investigation began.

"They said it was a shooting inside a house," she says. Police also told her, "That we were safe in the neighborhood and not to worry."

Denver police were focused on a tire shop at first. The investigation then shifted to the house where crime labs and detectives have been all day.

Angela Duran owns a business nearby. She has also lived in the neighborhood her whole life and says the home surrounded by crime tape has a reputation.

"That's a crash house," Duran said. "Lot of boozers and users hang out there."

Wojtech says she believes renters live there and sees a lot of activity on a regular basis.

"Lots of people coming in and out of the house with a few consistent faces."
