Stretch Of Highway Dedicated To State Trooper Killed By Drunk Driver
CASTLE ROCK, Colo. (CBS4) - Organizers on Tuesday unveiled a highway dedication sign to remind drivers of a Colorado state trooper who was killed by a drunk driver on Interstate 25 in Castle Rock.
It was a year ago on Tuesday Trooper Jaimie Jursevics was outside her patrol car while investigating a crash.
"You hear about public service a lot. I think there are a very select few people in our society who are willing to make that sacrifice, and sometimes it means their life," Maj. Matthew Packard with the Colorado State Patrol said.
The driver who killed trooper Jursevics, Eric Henderson, was sentenced to eight years in prison.
Jursevics left behind her husband and baby girl.
