Sources say the landfill search could take upwards of several months to complete. A CBS4 crew have seen a Littleton police mobile command center at the landfill. CBS4 also spotted what appears to be search teams getting dressed in hazmat suits, protective vests, and hard hats.

The City of Littleton says several agencies are assisting in the search.

Littleton Police began investigating Voight's disappearance around early July when her family, from California, reported her missing.

In a previous interview, Commander Trent Cooper told CBS4 they were trying to figure out what happened to Voight.

"It's a difficult case," he said. "We're putting a lot of time and effort into it as you can imagine and we will until we figure it out."

During the investigation, Voight's long-term boyfriend was arrested for an unrelated sex assault. Police arrested Jeff Beier for the sex assault, stating it was discovered while investigating Charlene's disappearance.

On Sept. 1, court documents indicate the 18th Judicial District Attorney's Office dismissed that sex assault case and the warrants against Beier. The documents state the DA's office made that decision based on Beier's case "becoming factually intertwined with an ongoing missing person's investigation."
