WATCH: Broncos Win On Blocked PAT Return

Ryan Mayer

The Denver Broncos and New Orleans Saints provided one of the most dramatic late-game finishes of the year on Sunday afternoon. The Broncos held a 23-17 lead when the Saints took over at their own 25 with 2:50 to go in the game. Saints QB Drew Brees, one of the best in the game at fourth quarter comebacks, engineered another one.

Brees marched the Saints 75 yards on just six plays, finishing with a touchdown pass to Brandin Cooks in between three Broncos defensive backs. That touchdown tied the game at 23 and, logically you would think, give the Saints a lead after the extra point. However, extra points are no longer easy money in the NFL and the Broncos proved just that.

Rookie safety Justin Simmons perfectly timed the snap, jumped over the long snapper and blocked the PAT. The play didn't end there, though. A fellow rookie, Will Parks, picked the ball up, and returned it for two points to give the Broncos the lead back.

The Saints were then forced to try an on-side kick on the ensuing kick-off, but the Broncos recovered and finished the game off. The play goes down as one of the wildest finishes to a game you'll ever see.
