Daniel Williams told deputies that he had shot rubber bullets at the bears and their mother to scare them away from his trash, but when his dog got loose and fought with the mother bear he used live bullets.

A jury on Thursday found Williams guilty of discharging of a firearm and aggravated cruelty to animals.

Prosecutors say it's unlikely Williams will get any jail time.
