By Libby Smith

DENVER (CBS4) The Museum of Contemporary Art Denver is opening its doors to Colorado residents for just a penny during Denver Arts Week.

"We want to give people access to the arts," said Adam Lerner, director of MCA Denver.

The museum has several exhibitions up right now. One is a retrospective of one of the world's leading ceramic artists, Kim Dickey.

"This exhibition is a first in a career survey of this very prominent artist featuring these natural forms that have kind of an eccentricity to them, sometimes even artificial looking," Lerner explained.

The museum also has an exhibition of 20 young artists called "Bodaciousss."

"That positions a group of artists that are normally categorized as post internet, the sort of younger generation that grew up with the internet. It contextualizes them with somewhat older artists that started working in a do it yourself medium many years ago," Lerner told CBS4.

Another exhibition at the museum is Nathan Carter's, "Ladies and Gentlemen, Meet the Dramastics."

"Which is an overwhelming sensory experience, featuring all kinds of drawings and collage and sculpture, and even opportunities for live performances," Lerner said.

The exhibition is based around a fictional punk rock band that the artist has invented.
