Man Charged In Deadly Stabbing

ADAMS COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4)- The man wanted in a deadly stabbing in Brighton has been charged with first-degree murder.

The stabbing happened at 3060 East Bridge Street, north of Barr Lake. Neighbors heard arguing coming from the mobile home about 1:30 a.m. Nov. 1.

Minutes later, the victim, Antonio Torres, staggered to the mobile home next door and left a trail of blood. Torres, 34, of Brighton, slammed the door and woke up Jorge Hidalgo and his family.

"He slammed it and he asked if we could give him some help, call the police. We did," said Hidalgo. "He was just grabbing his stomach, saying it hurt."

Hidalgo called 911. It wasn't until police arrived that he realized how serious Torres' injuries were.

Torres died a in surgery at the University of Colorado Hospital. He left behind a wife and young daughter.

Police arrested Jason Lee Trevino in the stabbing. He has been charged with first-degree murder after deliberation. His preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Dec. 16.
