Man Who Threw Coffee In Clerk's Face Has Prior Arrests

By Lauren DiSpirito

DENVER (CBS4)- Denver police are asking for help locating a man who is accused of throwing coffee in a store clerk's face and using mace on a customer.

On Oct. 21, police say Kenneth Sigala, 33, entered the 7-Eleven at 2299 W. Alameda Avenue. According to a Crime Stoppers alert, he asked for a cup of coffee. When the clerk gave him the coffee, police say Sigala threw the coffee in the employee's face.

After customers came to the clerk's aid, police say Sigala sprayed one of them with mace.

Before he even entered the store, he asked customers outside to help him steal cars from a local dealership, police say.

Police identified Sigala through surveillance images captured inside the store. Sigala is wanted for suspicion of assault and for his suspected role in other burglaries around southeast Denver, police spokesman John White said. There is a warrant for his arrest.

Store manager, Malith Jayasara, says both his employee and the customer were not seriously hurt.

"This kind of thing shouldn't be happening and we want the customers to know this place is safe for you to shop," Jayasara said.

State records indicate Sigala has been arrested before, for theft and other charges.
