Fowler: Balance 'Very Important' For Broncos Offense

By Michael Spencer

CENTENNIAL, Colo. (CBS4) - Broncos wide receiver Bennie Fowler joined CBS4 sports anchor Michael Spencer and CBS4 Broncos analyst Mark Schlereth for a Tuesday night edition of Xfinity Monday Live from the ViewHouse Centennial.

The Broncos improved to 5-2 on the season with a 27-9 win over the Houston Texans on Monday.

The Broncos had their best running game of the season and finished with a season-high 190 yards rushing.

"Balance is very important, especially when you want to get the ball down field to guys like Emmanuel (Sanders) and Demaryius (Thomas)," said Fowler. "You've got to run the ball, and then you can get the defense to bite on the play action fake, so balance was a very big part of our win."

Monday was also the return of former Broncos quarterback Brock Osweiler, who left the Broncos in the offseason for a big contract in Houston.

"It was very loud," said Fowler of the chorus of boos Osweiler received from Broncos fans. "Every time the camera was on his face you could hear all the boos."

"It was very motivating," Fowler said of facing his former teammate. "He made a business decision and went to Houston. And we were like, 'You know, you don't want play with us' so we'll show him that he should have stayed."

Fowler had his first career touchdown reception against the Chargers in Week 6. The Broncos will play the Chargers again on Sunday at Mile High Stadium.

"We have a little bit more time to prepare this time. But we obviously just played them, so it's going to come down to execution."

Kickoff on Sunday is set for 2:05 p.m. You can see the game on CBS4.
