Couple Wanted As Witnesses To Attack On Senior Citizen

By Jeff Todd

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4)- The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is hoping to talk to a couple that may have witnessed a violent assault inside the Jefferson County Courthouse.

"We had an 82-year-old visitor to the courthouse. After doing business at the DMV he went to the restroom near the public defender's office on level one of the administrative side of the courthouse. As he was exiting the restroom he was either violently punched in the face or the door was shoved into him so he fell backwards and actually got his nose broken from this," said Jennifer Fulton, spokesperson for the Jeffco Sheriff's Office.

Surveillance video from inside the county building on Oct. 3 showed a couple was nearby.

Cameras showed the couple then made their way to the light rail station.

The victim is expected to recover.

"It's a second-degree assault investigation and considering his age, being 82 years old, he's an at-risk adult which increases the severity a little bit," said Fulton. "He wasn't able to provide any information it happened so quickly that we're really seeking anything we can get from the public."

Anyone who may have witnessed the attack or knows the couple is asked to call Investigator K. Ferris at 303-271-5491.
