DENVER (CBS4) – Former Democratic presidential nominee Bernie Sanders campaigned in support of his former rival on college campuses along the Front Range on Sunday and Monday.
He was joined by Senator Elizabeth Warren as he put his support behind Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton at the Tivoli on the Auraria Campus on Sunday night.
On Monday, he will support a ballot measure to repeal the current health insurance system and make coverage universal on the Colorado State University campus in Fort Collins and the University of Colorado campus in Boulder.
“What real change is about, what real politics is about is transforming this country,” said Sanders.
Sanders and Warren headlined a rally at the Tivoli on the Auraria Campus.
He and Warren claim Clinton’s plan will raise minimum wage, move the country to sustainable energy and make public college tuition free. They also told the crowd that Democrats need their vote to defeat and beat Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.
“Donald Trump calls African Americans thugs, Muslims terrorists, Latino criminals and brags about sexually assaulting women,” said Warren.
They criticized Trump’s character and then reminded voters to do just that… vote.
“Real change, profound change never, ever takes place from the top on down. It’s always from the bottom on up,” said Sanders.
