DENVER (CBS4) – When Lance Wheeler started getting involved in running and cycling, he was looking for a charity to support.
He chose St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
“The one that really stood out was St. Jude because the money goes to the families of kids who don’t have a choice like I did,” he told CBS4 at the Health & Fitness Expo of the Transamerica Rock ‘n’ Roll Denver Half Marathon on Friday.
Wheeler is running in the Rock ‘n’ Roll Denver race this weekend, and he is one of the top racer fundraisers for St. Jude.
“They are at the mercy of whatever illness — cancer, whatever it is — that they’re suffering from,” he said.
Wheeler raised more than $6,000.
The Health & Fitness Expo is a two-day event taking place at the National Western Complex. It runs on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
