Denver police called in assistance from the SWAT team, which surrounded the house, and a critical incident response team spent several hours inside an armored vehicle outside trying to calmly coax the man out of the garage.

At one point they warned him "If you don't come out we will have to come in." That's eventually what happened.

There was lots of commotion just before the SWAT team made entry, including glass breaking and K-9 units barking.
