RTD Teams Up With First Responders For Active Shooter Drill

DENVER (CBS4)– First responders in the Denver metro area teamed up with RTD for an active shooter drill.

Police, paramedics and firefighters joined the emergency drill on Thursday. There was a practice hostage situation at the light rail station located at 41st and Fox Street.

Crews worked to improve coordinating efforts to protect commuters during a similar crisis.

“We’ve got people playing victims, they’ve got makeup all ready to go. There are a lot of tweets and news calls coming, so it’s very real,” said RTD spokesman Nate Currey.

About 200 first responders from around the Denver metro area participated in the drill.
