On Wednesday morning, in a different incident, police shot and killed a man with a machete on the campus.

In Wednesday afternoon's incident, the University Memorial Center, or the student union, was evacuated for a short time.

The deadly shooting earlier on Wednesday happened at the Champion Center after an altercation in the parking lot about 9:15 a.m.
