Haas Blog: 'Don't Feel Bad If You Get Passed By A Tomorrow Chaser'
By Mark Haas
If you are running the Denver Rock-N-Roll half marathon this year, don't feel bad if you get passed by one of the Tomorrow Chasers from Transamerica.
RUN WITH CBS4: Track The Team
The main sponsor of this year's race has chosen 5 of its employees to start at the very back of the pack of the October 16th race, and for every runner they finish ahead of, the Transamerica Foundation will donate $1 to the American Heart Association.
But that's not the only motivation for the two Tomorrow Chasers I had the pleasure of meeting.
Vanessa Diaz is running for her mother, who died suddenly from a heart attack last April while on her first visit to Colorado from Bolivia, to be there for her grandchildren's prom. Vanessa has never run a half marathon before, but took on the challenge to honor her mom's strength and courage.
Andrew MacQueen is also running his first half-marathon, and his inspiration is his daughter, Riley, who had heart surgery at 9 months, but is now a happy and healthy 12-years-old. Andrew said he's excited and nervous about the 13 miles, but eager to make Riley proud.
Best of luck to Vanessa, Andrew and the entire Tomorrow Chasers team!
