Homeowner Says He Had To Shoot Man Trying To Break Into His House
CENTENNIAL, Colo. (CBS4) - A Centennial homeowner says he shot and injured a man who fired shots into his home and was trying to break into the house.
So far it's not clear if either the homeowner, Phillip (who asked that only his first name be used in an interview with CBS4), or the man will face charges.
Phillip says a man who "wasn't making sense" tried breaking down his front door early Monday morning on East Aberdeen Avenue. He says the man started shooting at the house, so he shot back.
"I came out and a guy's just going berserk over whatever," he said. "Next thing I know he's got a gun, coming to the house, shot several rounds through the house," Phillip said.
Phillip said he hadn't seen the man before, but neighbors told him the man has been around the neighborhood before.
"(That was) weeks before. (He was) taking pictures of houses in here. The guy kept yelling 'I own this neighborhood. I own the neighborhood. You've got to get that boat down to the marina.'"
Deputies found the man hit by the homeowner's gunfire in his car a few blocks away. They say he will be okay.
