Euthanized Police Horse Had Symptoms Of Colic

DENVER (CBS4) – There is now an internal investigation into the death of a 10-year-old Denver police horse.

The horse, named, M.C. Hammer, spent time with the Denver Police Department since November of last year.

A police spokesperson says officers took the horse to a veterinary clinic with symptoms of colic on Tuesday.

Police decided it to put the animal down on Wednesday.

A tip to CBS4 raised concerns about abuse. A police spokesperson only says there is an investigation to see if any negligence was involved in the case.

    This story that you ran on a “tip” has been traumatic for the personnel of the Denver Mounted Police and those who know how much loving care is given to their horses. I will be watching for a report on the results of the investigation and expect it to be given the same air time as the accusation.
