Suspect Accused Of Trying To Escape While Recovering In The Hospital

DENVER (CBS4)- A man has been formally charged after allegedly trying to run away from custody while recovering at Denver Health Medical Center.

Darius E. Ratcliff has been charged with escape from pending felony.

Ratcliff remains in custody in connection with a November 2015 shooting that left one dead and several injured in the 100 block of Bannock Avenue. He is also facing numerous other felony counts in connection with an officer-involved shooting on July 31, a shooting in September 2015 int he 3300 block of Colorado Boulevard and a burglary in June at a marijuana dispensary.

The new escape charge alleges that on Sept. 23, Ratcliff ran away from police as he was being escorted into Denver Health Medical Center. He was captured a few seconds later. He will remain in custody and an additional bond amount will be set.
