There's a good dusting on the Grand Mesa in Mesa County east of Grand Junction and it's been snowing off and on this morning in the Durango-Silverton area as well as Telluride.

In La Plata County the first chain laws of the season went into effect for a few hours. The Durango Herald reported that they were in effect for commercial vehicles traveling between Silverton and Durango.

Staffers at Visit Telluride tell us it's been foggy in town, with snow on the peaks, but the sun is expected to come out later.

In a Facebook post, staff said they are excited for the ski season.
