New Friends Gather At Dog Park After Special Reunion With Man's Best Friend

By Matt Kroschel

LAKEWOOD, Colo. (CBS4) - After being missing for more than two months, a now famous dog, his owner and dozens of new found friends gathered in a dog park to celebrate a happy ever after-story.

As CBS4 first reported, Matt Vogler turned to Facebook to help find his dog Rue. He never expected the incredible end to the social media driven story.

The 5-year-old Louisiana catahoula wasn't like a normal dog. Vogler has posted videos of the dog racing down ski slopes, endlessly retrieving balls or sticks, and showing an Olympic-level jumping ability.

So when he mysteriously went missing, Vogler started a Facebook page and thousands joined in the search. It was two friends on a fishing trip in Arvada who spotted Rue and posted his picture online. Hours later Vogler and Rue were reunited and thus the story has a happy ending.

The new friends, many of them who had never met in person, gathered at a Lakewood dog park Saturday and are planning on starting a charity to help other people with missing pets find those animals.
