Married Teachers Killed In Crash, Young Child In Back Seat Survives

LARIMER COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) – A crash killed two people Friday night in Larimer County.

The victims are a husband and wife from Johnstown. Both were teachers in Colorado.

Jared Sommervold worked at Longmont High School. His wife Genevieve worked at Fort Collins High School. Neither was wearing a seat belt.

Investigators say a young child in the backseat was properly strapped in and survived the crash.

Drugs and alcohol are not considered factors in the crash at this point.

    If wearing seat-belts, they likely would be alive telling everyone of their scary experience.
    Why do some people not use such effective, easily worn and comfortable safety-belts?
    Every day I see people not using seat-belts. Mostly minority race appearing occupants.

    Riding inside a motor vehicle, not wearing a seatbelt, is like climbing without a rope.
