Summer Warming Trend Ramping Up

DENVER (CBS4) - What are you doing on this last weekend of summer? We have a nice summer warming trend that will finish out the season! A flat ridge of high pressure is strengthening over the central and southern Rockies. This will keep cold fronts to the north of Colorado through Thursday. Thursday by the way is the Autumnal Equinox Which arrives at 8:21 AM on September 22nd.

Saturday's high was a nice comfortable 78 degrees both downtown and at DIA where the official temp is measured. A normal high this time of year is 78 degrees. The record for Saturday was 95 set in 2000.

A cold front will push through on Thursday giving the Front Range a chance for showers and thunderstorms along with cooler temperatures.

Sunday should be a great day to check out the changing Aspens in the northern Rockies. Where the colors will peaking in many locations about a week ahead of average schedule.
